the face of love
by Valentin Valhonrat

These photos belong to a series which collects typologies described in
our model of loving, establishing the map of desire in modern culture.
Images of our modern heroes and their modern signs of identity. Success
is described by objects hung in the face and around the neck, and by the
attitudes of these new saints as described in the media. These invented
men and women with biographies that can not be verified, became paradigmes
of love, desire and success.Right Page:
Photography is used to reflect what already exists, without need of transformation,
manipulation, or need of any other description. Our cultural model is
able to produce icons for us to recognize ourselves. Even if those recognitions
show us dark aspects of our existence.
Photography shows what it´s not. Photography can not reveal the
things that are. Existence can not be photographed.
