MARK DION [IN THE STUDIO]
This is photo-realism, OK?
MARK DION- It's not that I'm entirely unimpressed. I'm impressed by some things. I'm impressed by how this exhibition is taking people by surprise. I'm impressed by the shock value of this exhibition. This is New York and it's not an easy place to do something that looks so new and so fresh. It's hard not to look at that and think, maybe there's something here. On the other hand, when I look at that work, I think, "Well, what is really there?" I don't think this work has the serious intent behind it to last very long. This is a flash in the pan. This is photo-realism, O.K? That's how I see this movement developing. Five years down the line it's going to be a laughing stock.
